Front page categories issue

Hi Guys

I'm trying to set up the front page with 5 categories

I can set the number and five categories display, however they display in a grid meant for six categories, so there's always a space at the end that looks like something is missing.

Is there a way to show the five without the additional empty space?

I've tried changing the image sizes as well, but that didn't work.

3 across works fine and fills the available space, as does 4 across, but 5 does not.
