We get the occassional order that does not go through as the customer may have had an issue making payment. The order ststus in these cases is "Pending" but we do not receive a notification. We would like to receive a notification of these orders if at all possible?
I also have this problem of not knowing that there is a possible order to complete just sitting there as 'Pending' because it doesn't notify the admin. It seems that it is with the online payments that this happens when they don't complete successfully. These carts become abandoned, or the customer tries to repeat another order, sometimes many times.
Is there a configuration setting that needs to change to receive an admin notification when the order with online payment is Pending rather than Completed?
I think it would be a good idea to have a system email notification message sent to the customer (and cc admin) automatically when the online payment fails, to offer them other alternatives to pay for the order, rather than either lose the sale or frustrate the customer by having to place a new order. This would also serve to notify the admin without changing the configuration too much, as the sale should only be set to completed when payment is received.
