Downloads: life span of download link was created by Elaine
I am finding customers don't always download when they receive their download link, and come back in 5 or 6 months and say they forgot and the link needs re-activating. As I cannot see a re-activating link for downloads, can someone tell me how to extend the life of a download link - perhaps to 6 or 12 months? Will changing the content of the plugin "Authentication - Cookie" - Cookie Lifetime fix this? Thank you.

In Eshop downloads do not work on time limits, they actually work on total number of downloads allowed. In the downloadable product setup there is an option to set the number of times a product can be downloaded, leaving this at zero gives an unlimited number of downloads, regardless of how long its been.
It sounds more to me like what your customers are doing is coming back in 6 months and making a new account, which of course would mean the download link would not show up as that account is not the one that made the purchase.

Thanks for your reply Clifton.
I did a lot of research on this, and determined that the download link emailed to customers is a token dependent on a cookie. The only place I could find a setting for this cookie is in the plugin Authentication - Cookie, which I adjusted to 6 months (180). One problem is that on newer eshop versions, customers can download without creating an account - they are a guest. In older eshop versions, you had to create an account for downloads. If a "Guest" loses his emailed token, then he does not have the option to login to his account. But, after a certain period, the token did not work, and neither did the download sitting in an account - which meant it is time related somehow - logically through a cookie lifespan. In the accounts you could clearly see that there was 1 download available, you just couldn't get it to work, and neither did the old email token when they eventually found it.
I found the easiest solution was to issue a voucher, and start again, reminding them not to forget!

We are a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers. Our business plan is selling ebooks, which needs more control over customer accounts than downloading documents, for example we need to provide individual tax invoices by email. Your business Funny Bug Bees And Wood Works sounds very interesting. Best of luck with it.

I think you misunderstood me a bit. I also am required to provide invoices. My point was that, at least to me, it sounds like you are over-complicating it a bit.
In Eshop the type of "product" doesnt matter, all sales are treated the same whether it be for a physical product or a "digital" product. Eshop handles the sale of digital goods by placing any purchased files (in your case E-books) into the customers "downloads" page. Only that customer sees the books he has purchased from you, and none of the other E-books on your site.
All customers get invoices for all sales, regardless of product type.
Once purchased, Eshop allows that digital product to be downloaded by that customer a set number of times which you configure in the backend, from 1 to unlimited downloads, by that particular customer and for that particular file. A guest can't just come to your site and go into "My downloads" and download your books, as without a purchase of a digital product by that person, there would be nothing in the "my downloads" section of his account.
Hope I am being more clear and answering your question better.

The antiglycemic drug metformin, widely prescribed as first-line treatment of type II diabetes mellitus, has lifespan-extending properties. Precisely how this is achieved remains unclear. Via a quantitative proteomics approach using the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans, we gained molecular understanding of the physiological changes elicited by metformin exposure, including changes in branched-chain amino acid catabolism and cuticle maintenance.
