Customers do not include names on orders

I would think when an order is placed the person who purchased a product would become a customer. But my customer list does not include all of the people who placed an order. Will you share some insight as to why there is not a 1-1 relationship between customer names and the names on orders. At the very least I would think every name on an order would be in included in the customer list.

The customers list only includes the customers who placed order as logged in user. The Guests are not displayed there.

Thanks for the clarification, so the customer list is not a ALL customers who bought something from our site. It is a list of registered users, who bought something. Got it.
