We are happy to introduce the
EDocman Indexer Plugin, a useful plugin for the EDocman extension which helps make uploaded document content searchable.
With this plugin,
EDocman can extract readable text from supported document files such as PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, and XLSX, then save the extracted content into the document’s indexed_content field.
This allows users to search not only by document title or description, but also by the actual content inside uploaded files.
Main features:
- Extract text from supported document files
- Store extracted content in indexed_content
- Support EDocman Search
- Support Joomla Smart Search
- Support PDF processing using pdftotext or PHP PDF Parser
- Useful for large document libraries, manuals, reports, contracts, policies, and internal documents

Important note:
If you manually index existing documents from the EDocman Documents List, please remember to rebuild or update Joomla Smart Search afterwards: Components → Smart Search → Index
This ensures Joomla Smart Search uses the latest indexed document content.
