Need menu option showing category list, click to view docs and subcats was created by Nancy Heath
I recently installed EDocman 3.1 and have imported all my categories and documents, but am struggling to find a menu option that will provide my users the simple interface they need. I have a hierarchical list of categories. All my users need to start with the same main category, and see a simple list of the next level of subcategories under it. They then need to be able to click on a subcategory, and see a list of all the documents and subcategories within it. They should be able to click on a document in the list to view or download it, and to click on a subcategory to list all the documents and subs under it. They should also be able to select a category or subcategory and upload a new document to it. Is there a way to do this from Edocman?

Hi Nancy,
You can use the Category menu layout in EDocman.
For example, please see this demo page:
demo.joomdonation.com/edocman/index.php/...ut-right-menu/gadget
From there, you will be able to see the sub-categories and the documents within that category.
Thanks
Dam

That doesn't work. I changed the menu option to Category. That lists the 33 subcategories that are within my main category, but clicking on one of them just comes back to the same list. I need it to show the next level of subcategories within that subcategory, and so on until it gets to the lowest level containing the documents.
I also tried the Tree List menu option, which at least allows me to view any documents directly under the first level subcategory, but I still can't navigate from that subcategory to those below it.
I'm starting to suspect that Edocman just isn't designed to do what I need it to do. Am I right?

Hi,
As I understand your requirement, starting from the main category, you want to see both:
- the sub-categories of that main category, and
- the documents assigned to the main category.
Then, when clicking on one of the sub-categories, you want the system to display:
- the child categories of that sub-category, and
- the documents assigned to that sub-category.
And you want this to continue in the same way down through each level of the category structure.
Is that correct?
Best regards,
Dam

Hi Nancy,
Yes, that is a feature of EDocman. It allows you to open categories and sub-categories while also viewing the documents assigned to the corresponding categories.
If it is not working properly on your site, please submit a ticket under the EDocman category and provide your site information and administrator account so I can check the issue for you.
Best regards,
Dam
