Edocman 2.2 - Practical Innovations for Efficient Document Management was created by Dang Thuc Dam
We are proud to present Edocman 2.2, a major update designed to address real needs and challenges in document management. This version brings not only new features but also practical improvements that make your daily workflow smoother, more reliable, and highly efficient.
1. Enhanced Edocman - Import Plugin:
With the improved folder structure import, Edocman now automatically creates categories and sub-categories that mirror your existing directory tree, importing all documents within these folders in one seamless operation. This is especially valuable for organizations managing extensive document libraries, as it eliminates tedious manual setup, ensures consistent organization, and significantly reduces the time required to migrate or update document repositories.
2. Improved CSV Category Import
The upgraded CSV import function allows you to download a sample file for easier preparation. Edocman intelligently detects parent categories based on your CSV data, or you can assign them manually. This streamlines the process of bulk category creation, particularly for users dealing with complex category structures. By ensuring unique category names, it prevents errors and confusion, making large-scale document categorization both accurate and effortless.
3. Document Version History & Restore
The new "Keep Previous Document Versions" setting means every time you upload a new file to an existing document, previous versions are safely backed up. You can review or restore any version as the current one, providing essential security for organizations that require audit trails, compliance, or need to safeguard against accidental overwrites. This feature gives you peace of mind and flexibility, allowing you to revert to earlier versions when necessary—an essential capability for legal, educational, or collaborative environments.
4. Improved Online Storage Plugins (Dropbox & Google Drive):
Edocman 2.2 offers enhanced compatibility and stability for cloud storage plugins. The new Edocman Google Drive V3 is fully compatible with Joomla 4++ and PHP8, ensuring reliable integration and performance. As cloud storage becomes the standard for modern businesses, these improvements guarantee that your document management system stays future-proof, secure, and accessible from anywhere, which is especially important for remote teams and organizations with distributed workforces.
5. New Export/Import SQL Data Feature:
You can now easily export and import Edocman’s SQL database between different Joomla sites without needing advanced technical skills or third-party tools. This drastically reduces the complexity of site migration, backup, and restoration, empowering users to manage their data securely and independently. It makes Edocman a more accessible solution for organizations of all sizes.
6. Reorganized Backend Tool Menus:
Backend menus have been restructured for greater clarity and usability, helping administrators find and use features more efficiently. This enhancement boosts productivity for site managers and reduces the learning curve for new users, enabling faster onboarding and smoother daily operations.
7. Improved Management Layouts & Bug Fixes:
Several management screens have been optimized, and bugs from previous versions resolved, ensuring a more stable and user-friendly experience. These refinements lead to fewer interruptions, a more intuitive interface, and a higher level of satisfaction for all users, from administrators to end-users.
8. Updated and Improved Language Packs:
Edocman 2.2 now comes with improved and updated language packs for German, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish. This ensures that users in these regions can work more comfortably and efficiently in their native language, improving accessibility and reducing the risk of miscommunication. With these enhancements, Edocman is even better suited for international teams and organizations operating in multilingual environments.

Replied by hide10 on topic EDocman PDF Viewer: Print Button Triggers Download Instead
Hello,
Today, I updated EDocman to version 2.2.
I would like to ask about the PDF viewer mentioned in the changelog for EDocman 2.1.
After displaying the PDF viewer, when I click the Print button at the top, an alert always appears saying “Please openning popup to print the document.”
Once I close the alert, the file is downloaded instead.
Is this the intended behavior, a bug, or is there some setting I need to configure?
Thanks

Unfortunately, this is my client’s website and is subject to a confidentiality agreement, so I’m unable to provide you with a link.
Isn’t it possible for you to reproduce the issue in your own testing environment?

Hi,
I tested the demo page below:
demo.joomdonation.com/edocman/index.php/...ocument-details-blog
In Chrome and Firefox, the “Print” button opens a new tab using a blob URL (e.g.
) where the PDF can be printed.
However, in Safari (macOS), clicking the same button shows an alert and triggers a download instead. The expected print dialog does not appear.
It seems Safari blocks the popup because the new tab is opened after fetching the PDF file, which is treated as a non-user action. Safari only allows new tabs to be opened immediately after a direct click.
Suggestion: open the new tab first (on click), then load the PDF file into it.
Thanks

Hi,
Thank you for bringing this issue to my attention.
I understand that this is quite an inconvenient problem. I will need to investigate further to see if there is any suitable solution. However, I would prefer not to make changes that could potentially affect other customers.
Thanks
Dam

Hi Dam,
Safari is the default browser on macOS, and is also widely used across iPhone and iPad devices.
Leaving this issue unresolved could result in usability problems for a large number of users and potentially discourage them from using EDocman. To explore possible workarounds, I consulted an AI-based tool.
Please find the proposed solution in the attached PDF.
I hope this can help you resolve the issue while minimizing any potential impact on other users.
Thanks
