Docs show in modal window not in a new tab was created by T. Gath
Hoping you can help me figure out why the 'view documents' clicked from a module or from edocman component page display in a modal popup and not in a new tab... Docs are .pdfs
Module URL: www.nelson-ny.org/index.php/town-departments/zoning
Component URL: www.nelson-ny.org/index.php/town-info/all-town-documents
Joomla 5.3 Edocman 2.0
Thanks!

Hi,
Starting from Edocman 2.0, we have introduced an enhanced way of viewing documents—particularly PDF files—using a modal popup. This change affects both documents viewed from modules and from the main Edocman component page.
The new modal popup viewing method was implemented to improve the overall user experience on your website. Here are some key benefits:
1. Seamless User Experience
The modal popup allows users to view the document directly on the current page, without being redirected to a new browser tab or window. This helps users stay within the context of the page they are browsing, which is particularly helpful when going through multiple documents.
2. Faster Navigation
Loading a document inside a modal is usually faster than opening a new browser tab, especially for mobile users.
After reading, users can simply close the modal and continue browsing without the need to switch between tabs or re-load the main document list.
3. Professional and Modern Presentation
Modal popups offer a more modern and clean look, enhancing the perceived quality of your website.
It also minimizes browser clutter and keeps users more focused on your content.
Thanks

Thank you for your reply. So the modal display of the pdfs is problematic in a couple of ways. My client reports that the docs are difficult to read/view on their devices and offers no (easy) way to print from the popup. Is there a way to override the modal popup?

Hi,
Please download and install the latest version of Edocman 2.0. We’ve recently updated the PDF viewing functionality, including a new full-screen display option for the modal popup. This should make it much easier for users to read documents and improve the overall viewing experience on various devices.
Let us know if you need any assistance with the update or if you have further questions.
Thanks
Dam
