"File missing" error message on Joomla 5.3 was created by Riccardo Rausch
I installed the latest version of Edocman 2.0 and, following this upgrade, also installed Joomla 5.3. Luckily, I ran a test on my development server beforehand, because Edocman 2.0 loses all links with Joomla 5.3 and displays the "File missing" error message.

Hi Riccardo,
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. It seems that the "File missing" error may be related to the configuration settings in Edocman after your upgrade.
Please try the following steps:
- Go to Edocman Configuration.
- Navigate to the General tab.
- Check and adjust the Documents root path variable.
It's possible that the current path is incorrect and does not point to the correct Edocman documents directory, which could be causing the "File missing" warning.
If you continue to experience issues after making this adjustment, please let us know, and we'll be happy to assist further.
Thanks
Dam

Hello Jean,
It seems there might be an issue with loading media libraries in Edocman. Could you please create a support ticket and provide us with your website details and administrator account credentials? This will allow us to investigate the problem thoroughly.
Please don't worry, as we believe this is just a minor issue that can be resolved quickly.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Best regards,
Dam

This is certainly a general core issue affecting all uploaded documents. I've tested both versions: Joomla 5.2.6 and the updated Joomla 5.3. In both versions, the "File URL" field in the configuration - individual document details - is not set (empty). While in the older version of Joomla 5.2.6, the file is found by Edocman 2 (the file size is correctly displayed in KB on the website in the details), in Joomla 5.3, no document is found, and the size is not displayed.
In the version of Edocman 2 with Joomla 5.2.6, the file download starts correctly when I click on the document file (Current File) in the configuration details of each document. However, in the updated version with Joomla 5.3, after clicking on the name of the current file, I'm kicked out of the Edocman configurations and landed in the Joomla dashboard.
In my opinion the default URL setting has changed in the new Joomla 5.3 and the URL is no longer recognized in Edocman 2.
ATTENTION: In Joomla 5.3 I notice that in the Main Configuration the "Documents Path" field is indicated in red as "Documents Path is not writable"! . I checked the two edocman folders (edocman and edocmanviewer, as well as their subfolders) on the website individually in Joomla 5.3. They are all set with the correct permissions of 755 (just like in Joomla version 5.2.6).

Hi Riccardo,
Regarding the “Documents Path is not writable” warning in Joomla 5.3, please try the following steps:
1. Go to Edocman > Configuration.
2. Click on the Reset button next to the “Documents Path” field. This will update the document folder path based on your current Joomla setup.
Make sure the folder actually exists on your server and that it is writable (has proper permissions).
3. Then, click Save to save the configuration.
After doing this, please check if the red warning message still appears. This step may also help resolve the issue with document file detection in Joomla 5.3.
Let me know the result, and I’ll continue to assist you further.
Thanks
