Can Edocman view xls or xlsx files on front end

I have the Edocman Document Link plug-in set to 'Add link to view document' for adding the link from an editor button. But when I enter a link for an Excel doc, it just downloads it, despite the link being a viewdoc link. Is it just not possible to view Excel on front end?

Currently, Edocman doesn't have option to view content of xls or xlsx files at frontend side of component.
