Hi,
It still means indexing the whole website. I am only interested in pdf files, for which I want to use Edocman as I did for so long.

Hi,
If you want users to be able to search through content of Edocman only, you just need to publish the plugin Edocman Smart Search. And when you run indexing in Joomla Smart Search, only content of Edocman are indexed.
Thanks
Dam

I followed your instruction. So I activated both the Edocman smart search plugin and the Joomla smart search and indexed via Joomla. You are right that only Edocman documents seem te be indexed as the results show. Unfortunately no real indexing takes place as was found in the Search for "Kronyck". They deliver the same errors as earlier.
To have this confirmed I once more used in Edocman the green tick mark to re-index the "Kronyck 1984", having indexed earlier the "Kronyck 1983". That delivered the correct indexing as the attached image shows. The rights for pdftotext are set to 777.

I applied an older backup file on my test environment including Edocman 1.25.3 . It turned out that this version showed the samen problem. So it had existed for a longer period and was not caused by Edocman 1.25.4!
I followed your advise to do a manual re-indexing. Then I updated Edocman to the recent version 1.25.4, without a problem. The indexing data were still there!
This gave me the courage to do the update on my live- website with over 3000 pdf files! No problems. Thanks.
