Add Comments to Documents

Does anyone know a way, beside JComment which IMO is a bit expensive, to add comments to docs? My students would like the ability to add their comments to the document after it's read.
So, a student uploads their work. It's read. Other students can enter comments to that document like it was an article.

Edocman support jComments, you can use this extension to allow users to post comment for documents

I decided to purchase and add JComments. But it doesn't seem to work with Edocman.

According to the documentation:How to setupGo to Extensions -> Plugin Manager to filter Edocman - JComments and publish it. Go to Edocman > Configuration > and select Yes at field: JComment Integration

There is no JComment Integration option in the config section. JComment works for Joomla articles but I can't get EDocman to add it.Help!
