Frontend Upload - Can user choose which category to upload to?

Hello!
I have a simple use case but I'm wondering how to do that:

• one user has the permission to upload documents to several different categories. I created a root category with two sub categories. I gave all permissions to the usergroup the user is in (also to manage sub categories)

Unfortunately i'm not able to create a frontend menu item where the user can choose which category (root cat or sub cat) the document should go to.. Instead I need to set _one_ specific category. This is not what I need to accomplish. Of course I could create several menu items for uploading to different categories, but that gets complicated.

Can you help me with that? is it even possible?

Hi,
You can setup menu to layout: Upload Document and then, you will able to select category from Dropdown select list.

Hello!
In order to save the menu item I need to choose the category which the files are send to.
I can't leave it to "choose category". 
This is not what I want: I just want one upload menu item for frontend upload; the users - according to their permission settings - should choose the target category by themself.
Seems not possible.
Right?

Like it's in the category tree menu item: I can enter the category IDs to be shown.
Similar to this I like the frontend user to be able to choose which category the document should go to.

No, when you create menu to layout: Upload Document, you don't need to select Category, it's optional parameter. Could you please submit ticket on category: Edocman and provide your site url with super admin account. I will figure the cause of issue for you
