We allow our members to upload files for download by other members. We wish to have the DOWNLOAD button appear on documents for all members. For super users and document uploaders we wish to have DOWNLOAD EDIT DELETE and UNPUBLISH buttons. If we set member permission edit state to disallow, the UNPUBLISH button does not appear for the document uploader. If there was an edit state own permission we could achieve what we want. Is there a workaround ?

    Hi Noel,
With one document, if user (in group) has permission to edit state, he will able to unpublish the document
    Thanks

Thank you for the fast reply.
In the screenshot, the Example of GPX Library item was uploaded by the logged in user and has the buttons to allow EDIT DELETE and UNPUBLISH (OK). The Panton Hill Short Walk was not uploaded by the logged in user and we do not want to allow it to be UNPUBLISHED. Only the document creator/uploader should be able to UNPUBLISH.
If we disallow edit state for our members, it removes the UNPUBLISH button from ALL documents including those created by the logged in user.
    Hope this is clearer,
    Regards,
    Noel.

    Additional screenshots:
Permissions for members (with edit state denied)

Document display showing effect of edit state denied (i.e. UNPUBLISH removed from logged in member owned document)

If we had edit state own permission we could achieve our aim.

OK, so now, different logged user can't change the publish status of documents, right?
    Thanks

Yes, we don't want different logged in user to change publish status of documents that others have uploaded. We do however want the logged in user to to change publish status of documents that they have up loaded.
    Regards,
    Noel.

If there is no simple workaround for this, we can get our members to ask super users to unpublish any documents that they no longer wish to appear in the list.
    Regards,
    Noel.

    Hi Noel,
Actually, if user has permission to edit document, he will able to change the publish status of it. In this case, we will need a bit modification in documents layout, if you want, you can submit ticket on category: Edocman and send your site url with super admin account so we can make that change for you
    Thanks
    Dam

    Thank you.
We will live with this minor issue and have super users sort out any problems. I see it as a Joomla oversight. If Joomla had an edit state own permission we could allow edit state own and deny edit state.
I noticed that in translations for the upload document screen, it is possible to alter short description but not description. Alterations to description have no effect. We do not need this fixed but others may?
    Regards,
    Noel.
