Short and Long Description fields on upload

I'm a new user to Edocman and getting used to it. When using the Simple or Default form for the uploads, I cannot access the Short Description or Description fields. The form will not allow me to enter data in them. The rest of the form works fine. Must be a setting for this somewhere but I can't find it. Can someone enlighten me ??

Hi Ron,
It seems the issue comes from JCE Editor in your Joomla site, i have some customers who have the same problem with JCE Editor at frontend. And the problem is solved by changing default Joomla editor from JCE to TinyMCE at Joomla Global Configuration

I have just found that if I move my Group down from "Registered" to under "Author", "Editor" or "Publisher" it works just fine with JCE. I tried changing Permissions of my group when under "Registered" to be same as when under "Author" but that didn't work ... so there's perhaps something other than JCE causing the problem.
Yes, changing the editor to TinyMCE did work as you stated.
