[STILL NOT SOLVED] Workflow improvement suggestion

I wonder, how come that it's not possible to upload file from within the New Document area?

At the moment in order to create new document for downloading, admin must do this:
1. Upload file via Batch upload or ftp
2. Click Documents, click New, Select category, Select uploaded file.

Which is OK with small amount of documents/files,
but as number of files grows, its will be more difficult to find this new uploaded file, and it will be very easy to make a mistake to select wrong file.

IMHO it would be faster and easier if we could upload a file from within "New document" area.
If this is not possible, it would be nice if selecting category would actually filter uploaded files in "Select file" drop down.

Ideally, both workflow features could be implemented in newer versions.

This would need some ajax coding, but it would help a lot in scenarios with many categories and many uploaded files
and this component is to be used in such scenarios

Related to my 1st question, I've found the answer, there is a setting to allow upload per document. I've found this one while observing all options in settings.
Edocman > Configuration > File Upload Method > Upload new file on each document.

However, feature suggestion to filter files per category, if File Upload Method is "Choose file from server", is still valid.

Any news on this?
After spending some time with edocman I came to conclusion that for best usability system should have both options:
- either to choose from uploaded file (to bypass file server upload size limit)
- or to upload new file
And to have files filtered by category if document is already saved.

1 year after, still nothing

- We need both methods, either to upload or to select file
- if category has specified folder, file list should be filtered from selected category.

Reasons for bumping:
1. Our content managers needs both options to upload or select
So I as administrator constantly need to switch between file upload method, which is not good for workflow. I dont want to allow content manager privileges to go in component settings to do so.
2. We have a lot of documents now and its harder and harder to find appropriate one, so filter files by category is a must.

Namely, you want to have option to select existing file and upload new file when adding documents, right?

1. Yes, both options should be available when adding/editing a document

2. When selecting from already uploaded documents,
when selecting document category, files should be filtered by so that pdf file is easier to find. Currently we have option to set upload folder in category settings. Why not use that for filtering?

I proposed this as feature suggestion one year and half ago, and you said this:

So I just reminded about this.

Current system is not user friendly because users needs both ways to select document: to either upload it or to select current one.

In order to do so we constantly need to go in component setting and switch between upload system or document select system.

Filtering system is not crucial but its very good option for everyone to have it.

If you decide that these feature suggestions are beneficial for all users Ill be happy to see it implemented and continue to renew my subscription.

I rest my case and I will not bother you about this any more.
