Hi Phil,
The issue has cause from your Joomla site while the db tables for Smart search component (Core Joomla component) isn't existing.
#__finder_tokens is Joomla core table.

Core Joomla component....?
Interesting is that an optional installed component as this is a brand new installation and the latest version ... smart search works fine, but just cant index edocman documents....?
