Hi Mark,
You should create menu to layouts of Edocman like Categories, Category..etc and please do not use alias of menu is "edocman", because Joomla doesn't allow to have menus having alias are the same with any folders in Joomla system.
Up to now, i still don't see menu: edocman/test at Menus management tool at Back-end of your site.
