Description showing for sub categories

I cannot seem to prevent the description showing for sub-categories when viewing the all the categories and sub-categories.
I have the "Show sub-categories description" set to no in the config/themes section but it is still showing.
Do I have to switch it somewhere else or is it a bug?

Using Ver 1.8.2 with Joomla! 3.7.0
