Starting out with dropbox - categories and folders was created by Jonathan Richards
Hello,
I just starting using Edocman having tried another document management system for many years.
I would like to use my dropbox account for storage and have successfully configured the dropbox plugin. Uploading from the frontend does save the file in my dropbox storage root directory, so all is working.
I am hoping you can help me understand the best way to now import my files from dropbox into categories within Edocman.
I have a fairly complicated file structure with multiple folders and subfolders.
Question #1: Does each folder and subfolder in my directory require a dedicated category within Edocman?
Question #2: Can I import all my files from dropbox, keeping them within their folder structure, so they can be recognized in Edocman? If so, will edocman automatically create the categories based on the folder names? I would like to have nested categories structured exactly like I have folders and sub folders.
What is the best way to get started using edocman with dropbox if I already have all the files organized in folders and subfolders?
Thank you for any suggestions you may have to offer.
Jon

Hi Jon,
Question #1: Does each folder and subfolder in my directory require a dedicated category within Edocman?
-> Edocman allows documents to be stored in category's directories. So all folder or sub-folder must be based on categories or sub-categories.
-> Unfortunately, Edocman doesn't have feature to import existing documents into Dropbox. But if you need, we can implement the custom project for you to import existing documents into Dropbox
Thanks
Dam
