Use of google docs was created by Simon Shaw
I was thinking of using EDocman and note from the demo site that Google Docs can be used to provide a view of documents online. Google is no longer promoting this service but I assume that the functionality will remain as many third parties still depend on it.
However, I do have clients who may question the security implications for confidential documents of files being processed on Google servers for rendering and viewing. I'm assuming that documents are in effect rendered on the fly and are not stored by Google and that data contained in the documents is not stored or used for any other process.
Do you have any, or know of any, information regarding the security and processing of data via this Google service that I could use to reassure clients with who may want to use the online viewing feature?

Hi Simon,
Google viewer is just the tool to show the content of document. It doesn't store your document on Google server. By the way, if you don't want to use Google viewer, you have configure option to turn it off.
Thanks
Dam

Thanks for the reply.
I've done some research and the closest I've got to an answer is a thread on Google dating back to 2011 productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/docs/wmgpk9N8LrU
It would seem that once a document is viewed on Google then it may become cached and indexed and subject to Google's T&Cs regarding privacy i.e. they can use it and make it public.
Of course I can turn it off - but then there is no viewer functionality in eDocman which is one of my main reasons for wanting to use it.....
