1. Be able to override ALL layouts by either using Joomla! template overrides or creating a custom theme for EDocman

2. Be able to re-order categories & documents by dragging (just like articles and menu links in Joomla!). Or, at least add up and down arrows to the ordering column.

3. Be able to choose to display all document or categories on the same page in the admin instead of the current 20.

4. Be able to choose whether to display "View" buttons next to "Download" in table view.

5. Be able to choose whether to display short description under the title in table view.

6. Be able to choose whether to display a list of subcategories AND their children on the same page. Would be great to have this setting for each category. This would reduce the amount of clicks when navigating to a document when there are many subcategories.

7. Wrap <form id="adminForm"> in <section> tags. This way there will be no standards compliance and SEO issues when displaying multiple categories on the same page (i.e. by using plugin) as this outputs multiple H1 tags in an article.

8. Be able to choose whether to display file size always in KB (or MB).

9. Be able to choose whether file upload/selection is required or not when creating/editing a document. It is useful when you need to create a "document" item but would like to upload the actual file later.

Would like to add two quick ones here:

1. Plugin behavior
The Edocman article plugin ({edocmancategory 1}) should fail much, much more gracefully. The current behavior is if a user isn't logged in, the plugin redirects to the login screen, so for articles which want to include this content, the rest of the article isn't displayed.

Haven't looked at the code yet, but think it could be implemented easily. Perhaps it should be something like this: If the current user doesn't have permission to view the Edocman category, the plugin exits (i.e. zero text).

2. Override-able display
When pulling the document list from a category, there is little ability to change the display. If we could create an override for the default views (table, column, etc.) that would be helpful.

Thanks for your suggestion. Be able to create template override is already supported. Have you tried to create template override?

FYI,

If you have the Membership component, you can wrap the {edocmancategory } plugin in the mprestriction} {/mprestriction} plugin to achieve the same result (i.e. preventing the category display for undesired user groups).

I second these above...

Also:

Batch access level process to be able to select multiple files and change the user group access.
