Sorry if this question has already been answered ( couldn't find that in the forum search).
can eDocman support downloading mp3 files ? or is it just text documents ?

All file types are supported, so Yes, it supports downloading MP3 files.

One follow up question: I guess I can use the same ACL supported by Joomla 3.x for the groups that have access to certain downloads right ?

Yeah ! EDocman was designed to support Joomla core ACL from beginning, so you can use Joomla ACL to setup Download, uploads.... permissions.

I have been trying to upload .mp4 files and they will only download as a text file??? How do I fix this?

As I replied your other forum post, maybe something special on your site causing the issue. Please send us admin and FTP account of your site so that I can check and solve it for you !
