eDocman and Event Booking

Hi folks,
I have both these extensions (which I think are great). Can I do this though.........

I have people registered for courses, which require course materials

I have the course materials in eDocman.
Can I restrict the access to certain eDocman documents, to ONLY those people registered for the particular events, so that they can get the materials.

At the moment, I have to open the eDocman course materials to All registered users, which will include those who may NOT be registered for certain events.
And also..... some of the registrants for events are not even registered as members of the site, so this makes it harder to get the materials to them.

I know I can restrict eDocman by site user id, but this is too hard for my users to enter al the users ids against all courses and documents, and also will not apply to those who are not registered on the site.

I hope I have explained this properly.

I think the best solution would be :

1. Create a new Joomla Group called Registrants .

2. Developing a plugin to assign all the registrants to that Joomla group when they register for the event .

3. Only allow download EDocman documents for Registrants group.

The solution above will solve the issues you are having for registrants who are registered members of your site. For registrants who are not member of your site, it will be difficult to deliver the materials to them. Maybe we will have a plugin to solve that issue soon (a new Send Mails extension which we are developing at the moment) .

I am not particularly familiar with developing the plugin to automatically assign registrants to a user group, but I will look into it to see if I can figure it out.
