Categories and folder structure was created by Brian Jamieson
Is it possible to make a configuration setting that allows the folder structure echo the category structure:
I install edocman, and create a category - "Transcripts" - I specify the folder name as "transcripts"
Result : htdocs/edocman/trascripts
I create a new category - "2012", its parent is "Transcripts" - I specify the folder name as "2012"
Result : htdocs/edocman/2012
Desired result : htdocs/edocman/transcripts/2012
Does that make sense ?
It does to me, and definitely does to my users. In fact it could actually be a 'show-stopper'

Hi Brian
In this case, when you create category 2012, you can enter transcripts/2012 into the the folder name field and It will work as expected .
The reason I make the extension works like that is because it will give admin more freedom to setup the folder structure in the way he wants (not used a fixed herachical folder structure) .
Could you please use this solution ? Will it be OK for you ?

Hi Tuan,
I understand the flexibility, and also the pain in having to crawl up the hierarchy to get the full path. I suspect that my clients will likely just get the pathway wrong and muddle up their 'library system'. I'll need to test the suitability, but sometimes users need to be protected from themselves

Hi Brian
Yes, agreed. The way you want it works is more logical (but less flexible). If your client really wants it works in the way you described, you can submit a support ticket sending me administrator and FTP account of your site so that I can customize the extension alitle for you.
