EDocman Indexer plugin release

Hi All

Together with the release of EDocman version 1.1.0, we also released a new plugin called EDocman Indexer. The purpose of this plugin is that It allows content of PDF and Word Documents to be indexed and searchable via search function (added to the extension from version 1.1.0). This plugin doesn't come in the download package by default, so if you want to have this feature, please download the plugin here and install it to your site, publish it.

Hi Tuan,

I installed this plugin but not sure how to make it work.

I assume that it will index all words in pdf documents and that I need to enable the plugin and enter the extensions I need to index; pdf, doc etc.

Do I need to enter .pdf or just pdf?
I have enabled the plugin but how do I search?
Do I use the standard EDocman search module?
Does it index existing documents or just new ones?

Hi Simon

The indexer plugin can only index PDF documents. It can only index new documents, if you want it to index old documents, you will have to edit these old documents and press Save button so that it can be indexed.

The indexed documents can be searched via Joomla search module. It can also be searchable via Joomla standard search if you install and publish the EDocman search plugin.
