I don't see any way to do document versioning, so I will assume you replace the file if you want to push an update.

Is there any way to let non-expired buyers know there's an update?

Hi Brian

Currently, there is no option to notify buyers when there is an update. Maybe in the future, we could integrate with a newsletter extension such as ACYMailing so that when someone make an order, they will be added to mailing list and you can use the newsletter system to send email to notify buyers
