Collect download data without visitor information

Is it possible to override the setting:
"Collect user information for downloading free documents"
but still count the downloads for free documents?

[EDIT] Just to say, I tested setting the option above to NO but downloads are not then counted on the Dashboard.

Essentially I want to offer free downloads and monitor them but I don't really need the visitor to enter details.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to do that at the moment. And to be honest, for Documents Seller, it is not really important, so I think we won't add support for this feature

In my use case, I require all users to be "registered users" in order to download free documents. That keeps me from having to collect their information on every single download (since there will be many). My issue is that I would still like some ability to track the download of a free document. Is it possible to send an e-mail to the administrator on download and/or add a counter for free downloads to the "sales" field of a document?

I understand that this might be a custom modification, if so, please tell me how much it would cost.

I need the same feature. It looks like the extension makers other Document system can do this, so the code must be around to be able to implement into Documents Seller?
