Error when using order form

I'm seeing an error when I use PayPal and enable the order form. If I bypass the order form when placing an order, it takes me to directly PayPal when I click the buy button.

The error is "500 - Layout "columns" not found.

the URL is site.com/index.php?Itemid=116

I am using the default category layout, but the error occurs when I choose any of the category layout options.

My assumption is that the order form does not interface with the PayPal shopping cart. Correct? So if everything worked correctly, the order should just redirect to Pal as if I had used a PayPal button. And the info entered in the order form is captured on the Joomla site.
