Download URL with Joomla Extension Updater

Hello,

I sell paid extensions on my website using Documents Seller and I would like to use the download URL that is sent via email as the <downloadurl> in the Joomla Update Server XML file that I have created. Unfortunately when you run the Joomla Update using the download link ( www.mysite.com/index.php?option=com_dms&...wnload_code=codehere ) Joomla gives several error messages...

"Unknown Archive type"
"Update path does not exist"
"JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file"
"Unable to detect manifest file"

This leads me to believe it doesn't recognize the link as a zip file or is not able to use the zip file associated with the download link.

Is it possible for you to customize a solution for me? I am willing to pay money if this is possible. If not possible please let me know.

To be honest, I still don't understand how Joomla updater works, so it will be difficult for me to look at it (I am too busy these days, too). Since you are Joomla developer to, I think you can try to customize the extension to meet your need.
