Translations not working

Hey,

I do not seem to be able to change the translation provided in the admin menu. I currently have two languages installed. French and English. The default English (en-GB) appears when I click on Translations, when I switch to French (fr-FR) and I change a line and click save, the changes do not register. I also tried to download some of the French translations provided on this forum and uploaded them in my French language folder of my Joomla installation, still no luck. Let me know if this is a bug or if I am missing something. I am running Joomla 1.7 and DMS for Joomla 1.6.

Hi Pascal

There might be something with translation function on Joomla 1.7 (I haven't tested it very well) . The solution is that you upload the language file to language folder and It will works fine .

The reason it doesn't work in your case because you used the language file for Joomla 1.5 and It doesn't work in Joomla 1.7 (Joomla 1.7 has changed the format of language file alitle) . To make it works, follow the step below :

1. Open the language file .

2. For each language item, change it alitle :

For example, in the file DMS_CATEGORIES=Categories

You need to change it to DMS_CATEGORIES="Categories"

Please note that the translated string must be surrounded by double quote characters in Joomla 1.6/Joomla 1.7

After you complete the changes, It will work fine !
