Free Shipping Pro

I wanted to understand this before I purchase Free Shipping Pro-

What we want is for specific items or specific whole categories to be free shipping. I see that Free Shipping Pro can do this for categories.

What I want to verify is if this will make an entire purchase free shipping or just those items?

For example:
Category A – set to free shipping
Category B – not set to free shipping (uses UPS shipping plugin)

Customer buys one product from category A and one product from category B

Is Free Shipping Pro going to make the entire order free shipping, or will it still calculate the shipping cost for the product from Category B?

There are 2 configuration options in the Free Shipping module:

1. Category Comparison: ANY = The cart has at least one product from a selected category. It can have products from other categories, as well. ALL = The cart has products from all selected categories. It can have products from other categories, as well. NOT = The cart has at least one product not from a selected category. It can have products from selected categories, as well. ONLY ANY = The cart has only products from selected categories. It cannot have products from unselected categories. ONLY ALL = The cart has only products from all selected categories. It cannot have products from unselected categories. NONE = The cart has at least one product not from a selected category. It cannot have products from selected categories.

2. Categories: Select the categories that cart products need to match for the rate to be enabled. To have no restriction on product categories, leave all the categories unselected.

I think that you can use this for your purpose.

Unfortunately I am still confused.

What I want is for the shipping plugin to calculate shipping for the entire order but to simply ignore certain products.

Item 1 - UPS plugin calculated shipping $15.00
Item 2 - UPS plugin calculated shipping $20.00
Item 3 - FREE SHIPPING
Total calculated shipping $35.00

It still seems as though free shipping is an all-or-nothing just with different rules. Is it possible for certain items (or categories) to be free shipping but still calculate and charge shipping for other items?

Sound like EShop Free Shipping pro does not support this.
