Is OWNER feature included or is it Agent Only? was created by kalesh.suby
Hi Thuc Dam,
I bought OSProperty 1 year ago and could not use it at all because that time because it had only Agent feature. How about property owners who are not agents?
In today's world, both Agents and Property owners should be allowed to list a property.
Can you please advise if OWNER feature is implemented yet or not?
Thanks

Hi Dam - Please advise if both Agents and Property Owners can use OSproperty? Is this still only for Agents like it was one year ago? Any plans to include Owner so that property Owners can also add their property?
Thanks
Thanks

Hi,
Currently, OS Property only allows agents to upload properties. It doesn't have Property Owners object.
Thanks

I added a company name "For Rent By Owner" and plan to allow owners to list their own properties in this "Company" category. I will just edit every instance of Agent to say Agent/Owner to cover both. Any problems with this approach?

Hi,
You can edit the word Agent to Agent/Owner at backend > Translation labels feature
Thanks

Excellent... easy solution...
Where are the # Bathrooms Configured? I would like to include half baths, so 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, etc

Hi Rob,
I disagree that is a solution - It is a workaround or a band aid - This workaround will not be ideal when there will be 200 or 1000 other companies at some point on your site. Your entry "For Rent by Owner will be lost among the 200 other companies.
The whole point is visitors should find it easy to use your site. If you want to just build a site then such work arounds are fine but not when you need to grow BIG. What are you going to call your Company label on front end?
Company is an important feature and so is owner !
Thanks

Kalesh,
That is an interesting thought... my use of this component is probably different than most. My website is only about rentals... I used to run a property management business - I sold the business but kept the website. Right now, the website is getting almost 100,000 visitors a year for rental properties (very good SEO on this domain rentnewtampa.com ) - but I only serve ONE SMALL AREA.
For my area (3 zip codes) there are only about 10 companies. i suspect there are a few hundred landlords that try to rent the properties on their own. I'm trying to have a solution where property managers can subscribe to promote their business and list up to 10 properties (but pay for each property above 10). I also want to charge individual landlords a fee to list their own rental, kind of like how rentals.com does it.
OSProperty is the closest I could find to accomplish this. I will need to make a few modifications to be sure.
If I can make it work properly, I own ~100 other domains I can try this on.

Hi Rob,
For just 10 companies your solution MAY work because when people register as an agent or owner, they can select the company dropdown and find "Owner" among the list of 10 entries. I just did not want Dam to think that what you proposed is a solution because its not !
Your drop down list will have entries "By Owner", "By Independent Agent", "Company A" Company B etc. and I dont think all these entries belong to the same dropdown - They simply do not match ! I know you will agree but you are trying to somehow make this work ! Isnt it? All I say IF you think it does not work very well, bring that up rather than suggesting a band aid fix !
I am targeting an entire state which does not have even a single free real estate site. There are thousands of companies and thousands of "Agencies" who have agents under them. I know I will not have thousands initially but even with 100 entries, people are bound to confusion. Its better NOT to have a feature than to have and confuse visitors. I love gmail because its simple and all features are clear !
I waited ONE year and 3 months for OSproperty to add the Owner feature. I want to launch my free site before someone else does and I know without "Owner" feature my site cannot survive just because 60% of people who sell do it themselves without help of an Agent (Something like people posting on Craigslist). I do have a few other sites that have 2 to 4 thousand visitors a day which can support the new real estate site I am working on.
Thanks

Hi Kalesh,
We will implement the Owner feature at middle of Dec 2014. That's new OS Property improvement plan. I hope the feature will be released at the end of this year.
Thanks
Dam
