Renew existing member's plan does not work was created by Philip Benwell

I would like to allow members to renew their "recurring membership" plan before the subscription expires.
I set "Allow membership renewal 900 days before the subscription expired" , so all members should have this possibility.
Then i go to Web site -> profile ->my subscriptions. I see only "Upgrade Membership" for other plans not "Renew Membership" for active.
Thank you

Hello
1. Don't set it to 900. Just set it to 0 and subscribers will be able to renew their subscription anytime they want
2. I think it happens because you subscribed for a recurring subscription plan? With a recurring subscription plan, renewal suppose to be automatic, so you don't have to renew manually. You can only renew manually after subscription is expired
Could you please check it again to see whether that's the case?

Thank you for answer, Tuan.
We want to make it possible for recurring subscribers also. So they can manually renew subscription before 100 days or 3 weeks or some other time frame before (we should manage it "Allow membership renewal NNN days before the subscription expired" ) subscription expires.

Hi Philip
That defeat the purpose of recurring subscription. Please understand that when someone subscribe for a recurring subscription plan and make payment (via PayPal, Stripe...), then the renewal will happen automatically
It will be handled automatically by the payment gateway and Membership Pro, there is no manually renewal needed from users
That's why we disable manual renewal if someone subscribes for a recurring plan
If someone subscribes for a plan (use PayPal payment gateway for example), and then do the renewal, then he will actually end up of having two recurring subscriptions and it is not correct.
Does it make sense now?
Regards,
Tuan

Hi Tuan,
Less than 20% of members have automatic renewal, which is why we need the ability for members to renew before their expiry date.
A number have disabled the facility preferring to log on and pay separately.
I don't see any reason for this limitation. All actions in the system should be transparent. If I want to subscribe I wouldn't like any implicit write-offs from my account until I say that I agree explicitly.
Thank you

Hi Philip
Maybe I don't understand how you setup/configure the system but as I said, subscribers for a recurring subscription plan should be renewed automatically, that's why we disable renewal
So the questions here are how they subscribe into your system? Did you subscribe from frontend of your site and choose a payment gateway for processing payment ? Or you added them manually?
And what payment method you are using on your site?
Please let me know so that I can understand your setup better and find a solution for this problem

Hi Philip
1. About renewal: I understand this user-case now. So not all users subscribed for the the plan in the frontend (using payment gateway) and that's why you need this option. I agree that it is a a valid requirement and will try to implement soon. However, to be honest, It will take me about one or two weeks to have it implemented (as I said, in most cases, subscribers sign up from frontend and that's why we don't enable renewal until it's expired because renewal is automatically - this is the first time I heard about this case
2. To allow choosing auto renewal or not, it is hard to implement and we won't be able to implement it very soon. If you want to have this kind of option, you will need to create two plans for now, one for manually renewal and one for automatic renewal (recurring)
Regards,
Tuan

Thank you Tuan,
1. It is more important that fix will be implemented directly in component rather than we hack it by yourself.
Best Regards
