Import Subscribers was created by John Waraksa
Just started to use Membership Pro and I am having an issue when attempting to import a list of subscribers. My steps were:
1. First I manually created one NEW SUBSCRIBER in Membership Pro.
2. Next, I "Exported Subscribers" to an excel.CSV file.
3. Now I deleted the one subscriber in this excel file and then entered new subscriber information.
4. Finally, I did "Import Subscribers" using this excel.csv file
Each imported subscriber has NO DATA. A new ID line is created for every line in of data in excel.csv file, but no data was transferred.
Any thoughts on why this might occur?
Thank you,
John

Oh, I just found a post from over 2 years ago with an example excel.csv file:
My issue is related to this:
"The first row in the csv file must contains the name of the fields you want to import (please note : the name of field, not title of the field. Go to Membership Pro -> Custom Fields and you will see the name of all fields/custom fields). The fields can be in different order, but the name must be the same" .
Are there any modifications since 2 years ago that are also important to know?
Thank you,
John

Hi John
The import process still works as how it was. There was nothing changed regarding the import feature

Tuan,
I appreciate your reply, but ran into another issue.
1. I am able to import some data with excel.csv, but not payment_date, from_date, and to_date. Are these field names correct?
2. I also used two different date formats in configuration (m-d-y and n-j-Y) but neither worked. What is best date format to use?
3. Any other things I should check that may be causing issue with importing date fields?
Thank you,
John

Hi John
You need to enter date fields in the following format and it will be imported : YYYY-MM-DD. Maybe the data in the csv file which you are using to import is in different format and that's the reason it could not be imported ?

Tuan,
When I type the date in csv file with format as YYYY-MM-DD, date is automatically change to MM-DD-YYYY before I can save it.
I never really needed to do much with a csv file before, but my understanding is that csv has no formatting capability. How do I change format of cell to be YYYY-MM-DD?
Would it not be easier to change os-membership formatting?
Can you please email me a correctly formatted csv file to use as a template?
Thanks,
John

I found a solution:
1. Manually changed example.csv file to a text file, example.txt
2. Open example.txt in Excel and use "Text Import Wizard"
3. Hit Next and then choose CSV with Delimiters and manually check "Comma"
4. Go to cell with date, right click, usr Custom Format, manually type in YYYY/m/d
5. Finally File Save As, CSV (Comma Delimited) (*.xls)
Hope this explanation will help someone else!
