Hey Everyone,

I recently switched my membership system to Membership Pro. It looks awesome but I am having one problem:

When someone purchases a membership their account is created and payment goes through but they are not being added to the Joomla groups I have selected.

Has anyone else had this problem? How did you fix it?

My site is live and I am dealing with customer complaints because they aren't able to access their purchased materials. Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.

Just an update...

When a brand new user purchases a membership they ARE added to the appropriate Joomla groups!

When I test with an existing user (i.e. someone who is already registered for other memberships and in other Joomla groups) - This person is NOT added to the new Joomla groups that they should be added to.

Any ideas?

Hi Dave

Could you please make sure you are using latest version by upgrading your site to version 1.6.2 of Membership Pro and check it again ?

Hey Tuan,

Yes, I do have the latest version installed.

I had 2 more customers purchase memberships tonight and both experienced issues. Payment went through but their accounts were stuck as "pending" until I manually activated it. They were adding to the right Joomla groups this time.

I've also had a bunch of people report problems at Paypal once they were directed away from my site. I don't know how Membership Pro could affect this, but I didn't have this problem before. Something isn't quite right but I don't what it is.

Hi Dave

You are saying that the subscription records are set to Pending instead of Active ? Then there might be something with your site or Paypal account.

Could you please login to your Paypal account, access to History -> IPN History to see whether there are any IPN messages? If there are, what are the status of these messages ?

Please check it and get back to me so that we can check it further !

Yes, there are IPN messages in the history. I made sure my IPN notifications are turned on and have the URL set to my domain.

It's strange - there have been several different issues with new subscribers:

-sometimes the Joomla group isn't selected
-other times the new subscriber is set as "pending" instead of "active"
-at least 4 or 5 customers have had issues when they are directed to Paypal (can't complete the transaction for some reason)

Please let me know if there is anything else I should be checking

Hi Dave

1 => The best thing we can do now is that you download latest version (still 1.6.2 but some small issues/improvements fixed from time to time). If users are not assigned to Joomla groups after this update, please let me know.

2=> When sometime, subscribers are pending, I am afraid of there is some problem with communication between Paypal and your server (IPN message coulld not be reached for some reason). I am afraid of it will be difficult for us to check and solve this issue, so we will have to leave it as how it is.

3=> I don't have any clue why they could not completed transaction at Paypal. Maybe sometime Paypal has problems ? Because the extension just redirect users to Paypal, from that, all are handled by Paypal. So we could not check this case as well. Maybe if that happens, you will have to ask customers to try again

Sorry for the inconvenience but the issues you mentioned seems difficult to re-procedure and it is difficult to check/fix as well. So if it happpens, maybe you will have to adjust/fix it manually and moving users to correct group.

1. I did download and install the latest version. I will see if this fixes the Joomla user issue

2. Just to clarify, I have my Paypal IPN URL set to my main domain. Is that correct OR is there a specific URL I need to use for your component?

Hi Dave

The Paypal IPN url is not important because Membership Pro send the URL which it wants to receive notification in the code, so just put your site domain in that setting will be enough.

Please be patient, wait for new customer, then check to see whether they are assigned to the correct group or not and let me know the result.

Hi,

I'm having more and less the same problem but with the expiration date...
When an account form subscriber expires, then the subscriber remain in the same Joomla Group, which is not good at all.. because we don't feel the necesity to purchase/renew the subscription due to still have access to the data...

What can I do? Somebody else having the same problem?
