Empty categories in search

Is it possible to hide empty categories in the search dropdown?I would appreciate it if you could look into this.

Yes. But I wonder in what case the categories dropdown is empty. Could you please give me more information ?

I have many pre-defined categories that the event manager can select when setting up an event. I just want the chosen categories to appear in the search/filter drop-down.

To make sure I understand your question, could you please send me screenshot of the categories filter dropdown you are talking about ?

Please see the attached screenshot. If it’s a big effort, don’t worry about it. I have a manual workaround in case it’s not easy.

Yes. It requires certain effort and also effect performance because we will need to query database to count number of events of each category to exclude categories without events from dropdown

So I would suggest to leave it as how it is for now. If it is really needed, I will try to implement it in next release of the extension

Just want to update that I implemented this feature and updated it to your site (it requires updating Events Booking to latest package and also update override implemented on your site). Please go to your site to check it and let me know if it works

If someone wants to use this option, download and update your site to latest package of Events Booking. Then go to Events Booking -> Configuration, set Hide Empty Categories In Search Filters config option to Yes and categories without events won't be displayed in categories filter dropdown

Thank you very much for working on this topic — absolutely worth it. It’s working perfectly on the page where you implemented it: ferien-spass.b-vizible.ch .
Unfortunately, it’s not working on the other page, ferien-spass.ch . I applied the update and can also see the new field you added, but the empty categories are not being hidden.
