Registration button not visible after event start time? was created by Stephan Hodges
We had someone want to register for a Zoom yoga class after the starting of the class, but the register button wasn't visible any more. They have successfully registered in the past for previous classes, and they are an IT person, familiar with web sites, technical details, etc.
Is there a restriction on registering for a Zoom class after the start time, but before the ending time? (The class was over an hour long, although I don't know the precise time that the student tried registering).
Thanks

Hi
In this case, you need to edit the event, set Cut Off Date to the date you want to stop accepting registration
Then it should work as expected

Thanks for your quick reply.
Are you saying that if I leave the "Cut Off" blank, that it stops registrations at the earliest possible moment? I.E. the starting time of the event?
Let me explain:
The cut off date is the same date as the class. The class was yesterday. They are single day classes. Example:
Class Start July 2 at 7:00 pm
Class End July 2 at 8:15 pm
The person tried to register July 2, at 7:10 pm and the Registration button wasn't available.
The question was after the start time but before the ending time.
It seems that Event Booking might be not allowing registrations after the start time? (Obviously we would prefer registrations until the end time, OR, better, a new parameter to either set the ending registration time somehow.

Also, if the answer ends up that I MUST enter a cut off date/time, is it possible to ONLY enter the cut off time and leave the date blank?

Hello Stephan
1. By default, as soon as the start time of the event date reached, the system will stop allowing registration (it's not making sense when enable registering when event is already started)
2. So to address that issue, you need to use cut off date. When you set cut off date for an event, the system will allow registering for the event until the current date time is greater than that cut off date
Hope it answers your question

Thanks. I understand your reasoning, and we will use the cut off time. I respectfully, disagree with your reasoning, however. Have you never been a couple minutes late to class or to a meeting or to see someone? Would you expect all the doors to be locked, and perhaps armed guards to stop you from the meeting at that point? (I am exaggerating a lot of course!)
My point is that it does make a lot of sense to continue to allow people to join a virtual meeting after it has started. In fact, if it was a physical yoga class, it would still make sense to allow registrations, although in that case, people could register on paper. They don't have any other method to register with Zoom, however. The doors are "locked".
Respectfully
Stephan
And, again, thanks for your time!

Hi Stephan
The point here is Events Booking is an Events Registration Extension. It's designed to handle registration for events, for courses for registration, for festival...
In most cases, the registration should be take off few days before event started (you need to know the actual number of registrants to prepare for the event, right?) and that's the reason we have cut off date and usually, cut off date is set before event date. If cut off date is not set, then the registration is allowed until event date as you can see.
Hope you understand the reason behind this and in this case, set the date you want into cut off date of the event as suggested

Hello
i have the same problem
For all courses, entry is still possible after the start date. Is there a possibility to ALWAYS allow registration?
Thanks for your help

Hi Corinne
No, it's not possible. If you want to have it works like that, please set cut off date of the event to a future date as I mentioned

Just to throw in my thoughts - I also need people to register after an event has started. I have an open after school program. It starts on Feb 10th and runs all through the summer. People pick the days they want their child to attend when they register, but what if they want some dates in April and won't know which dates until the end of March. Setting up one event for the whole summer (because it's one program) is much easier than setting up 14 individual events by week.
Is this a feature that might be in a future release?
