Creating free text in registrants form view was created by Paul Nout
Hello all,
Sorry, wrong category...
I'm trying to add free text in the registrants form and tried to do this with the Message field. This one does not appear on the form. How can I add some free text lines and what field should I use for this
Thanks,
Paul

As answered on your other post, just put the text you want into Description of the field and it should be displayed

Tuan

Thanks for your reply, Tuan
So I filled in some text in the Message description field but it does not show on the frontend form. In fact, none of the other field show a filled in description.
Is there a setting wrong perhaps? Am I missing something?
Regards,
Paul

Hello Paul
Better submit a support ticket sending us super admin account of the site, tell you ID of the message field you created and link to registration form
I will then check and tell you the reason why it's not shown

Ok, thanks. I wil do so. I have it on a test environment but the form has only registered access. I should first log in on the front end then on.
You should use this URL for that;
www.afdeling39.nl/demo/login
You from Vietnam, I believe? I wil set the firewall free for Vietnam
Regards,
Paul

Hi Paul
Yes. I'm from Vietnam, so please unblock our country so that we can access to your site and check it. As it's night time here now, if I could not check it tonight, I will check it on tomorrow morning

Update: I see it's because of the layout chosen for the form. The description /free text is now shown if you hoover over the title, but that's not where I want it. The other default lay-out don't really work for the form either. Hm..
Update 2: Found it in the documentation ( eventbookingdoc.joomservices.com/basic-s...m-fields/field-types ):
"Message: Display a text message on subscription form. The message you want to display need to be entered into Description of the custom field"
That does the trick.
Hi Tuan,
Could you share what the solution was to this? I have a longer text to add but the description field is not shown in the front anywhere and it doesn't fit in the title.
Thanks!

Hi Tuan,
Thank you for your response. I found the solution to add free text, as mentioned in the updates above:
- Field type should be "message"
- The message you want to display need to be entered into Description of the custom field

Ah, OK. I thought you could only add short text and want to add longer text, that's why I suggested you to submit ticket. If you have everything works as expected, please ignore my last comment
