A short manual for translating language files.
A good result still depends on the amount of tine you spend on editing but is a start.
- Download Language-File-Tool from
www.pages-and-items.com/extensions/language-file-tool
- Install in a Joomla site (on local host)
- Open Component > Language File Tool
- Then google translate language files
- Create a directory in the Site Root _languagefiletool_langfiles_processed
- Open the original language in a wordprocessor and copy the content in the first field the language-file-tool
Select the original language
- Copy the original name in the field (can be any name, it will be the name of the output file), You can't alter the language here, the new file will have the proper language letters.
- Click on Save settings, otherwise nothing will be translated
- Then Go To Translate and select the output language.
- The file will be processed and a new file will be created in _languagefiletool_langfiles_processed
You can open this file in a wordprocessor for editing.
Some lines are so poolly translated that it is practical to open the original file as well.
With some badly translated lines you can try to translate the orignal ones with Google translate or any other online translation site.
Check after editing for missing quotation marks, if there is something wrong with the translations check again. You can try to search for a+return, b+return etc or =a , =b etc (the code of return depends on the editor).
