Google Analytics is apparently able to track “Ecommerce conversions” and measure many different metrics. It seems to work by adding a Javascript code to the shopping cart. A Google ecommerce plug-in or an enhanced ecommerce plug-in is added to the shopping cart and sends data from the cart's "Thank You" page to Google Analytics. The site owner can view this data together with other traffic information regarding the website. Information is at
    support.google.com/analytics/answer/1037249
. There are also instructions regarding adding the plugin and PHP code to the shopping cart.
This sounds like a great tool, but implementing it in my eShop is beyond my abilities. It would be wonderful if these plugins and whatever else is needed became part of eShop or if there was an easy way to add them similar to how we can add social media links. Is this possible?

a 'spit' is a rod upon which savory food was roasted, turned in ancient times by a worker called a 'jack', a middle English word for an ordinary laborer (eg jack of all trades, steeplejack, lumberjack). Today, this is done by a 19th C machine.

Another popular analytics tool, and an alternative, or analog to Google Analytics, is Piwik. It provides your visitor metrics and traffic in real time.
