New EU law requirement from June 2026 - Withdrawal Button for orders was created by Johannes Springer
For your valued information - a new european union law is coming with Juni 2026, requesting a dedicated withdrawal button for orders in B2C online shops. Details:
From June 19, 2026, nearly all online shops and digital service providers selling to EU consumers must implement a withdrawal button in accordance with the new EU Directive 2023/2673 (amending the Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU).
Here are the main requirements and application details:
Who is affected?
• All businesses that conclude online contracts with EU consumers, granting them the statutory right of withdrawal (goods, digital products, services).
• Exemptions: Pure B2B shops, contracts without withdrawal right (e.g. bespoke goods), or purely offline contracts.
Placement & Design Requirements (from June 2026):
• The withdrawal button must be clearly visible, easily accessible, and unambiguously labeled (e.g. “Withdraw from contract here” or “Cancel my contract”).[3][2][1]
• Where to place it:
o Directly in the customer's personal area, wherever order or contract details are displayed.
o The button must be available throughout the withdrawal period (typically 14 days after delivery).
o Must be accessible and functional on mobile devices as well.
• The button is not required on every page, but must be available in the section where customers see or manage their orders or contracts (e.g. “My Account”, “Order History”, “Contracts”).[1]
• Clicking the button must open a confirmation page where the customer completes the withdrawal.
o After submission, the shop must immediately send a confirmation receipt (for example, via email).[2]
• The design and labeling of the button must not be misleading or hidden.
Legal consequences of non-compliance:
• Risks: Warnings, fines, extended withdrawal periods, and other sanctions if the button is missing or incorrectly implemented.[3]
• The requirement applies strictly for the duration of the statutory withdrawal period; after that, the button may be removed.
Technical Implementation Tips:
• Ensure accessibility (e.g. screen reader compatibility).
• For multiple orders/contracts, each must have its own withdrawal function.
• Both the button function and the confirmation email should be properly logged/documented for compliance reviews.
In summary:
From June 2026, every online shop serving EU consumers must add a clear, easily accessible withdrawal button to customer areas where contracts or orders are shown. The process must be as simple as making a purchase, and an immediate confirmation must be provided after use. Exact details and further guidance can be found in the new regulation.

Hello Giang,
as this feature will be needed starting with Juni 2026, and as I got in the meantime a better description of the circumstances and needs from my german law-service for webhosters (e-recht24.de), I want to forward this information to you and maybe other interested readers of the forum here, and hope you find it useful. As I am not able to add here attachments, I uploaded the zip onto my server and give here the link to the zip. Inside are 4 files, 2x translation (german/english), and 2x document format ( .docx & .pdf). I didnt altered the text in any way, its the original text from the law firm and should present the current status as of today.
I apologize for our crazy EU politicians, who only make the life for all of us harder and harder..

Guys
I think this needs to be looked at in reference to Membership Pro and all extensions in general.
Our usage of eShop wouldn't need this as all of our sales are instantly fulfilled and therefore no requirement to cancel.

Its not about instantly fullfillement, it depends on the kind of goods, the contracts and if they fall under the EU consumer law regulations for B2C businesses:
The obligation for the withdrawal button does not depend on how quickly you ship the goods after the order, but on whether a statutory right of withdrawal exists for the contract and the conclusion occurs via an online interface in B2C distance selling. [heuking]( www.heuking.de/en/news-events/newsletter...by-june-19-2026.html )
## When the Button is Mandatory
- Mandatory from 19.06.2026 for all distance contracts with consumers concluded online (website, app), insofar as a right of withdrawal exists under EU consumer law. [elio-systems]( www.elio-systems.com/widerrufsbutton-pflicht )
- It doesn't matter if you offer "same day shipping," shipping immediately after ordering, or very short delivery times – this doesn't change the 14-day right of withdrawal from receipt of the goods and thus not the button obligation. [it-recht-kanzlei]( www.it-recht-kanzlei.de/widerrufsbutton-...n-online-handel.html )
- The withdrawal button is in addition to the withdrawal instructions and sample form; email, contact form, etc. alone will no longer suffice. [jtl-software]( www.jtl-software.com/de/blog/wissenswertes/widerrufsbutton )
## Exceptions (No Button Required)
If there is no right of withdrawal for certain products at all, you don't need to provide a withdrawal button for those contracts. Typical exceptions: [elio-systems]( www.elio-systems.com/widerrufsbutton-pflicht )
- Custom-made / personalized products. [it-recht-kanzlei]( www.it-recht-kanzlei.de/widerrufsbutton-...n-online-handel.html )
- Perishable goods (e.g., fresh food). [shopware]( www.shopware.com/de/news/widerrufsbutton-pflicht-2026/ )
- Sealed hygiene/health products if the seal is broken after delivery. [shopware]( www.shopware.com/de/news/widerrufsbutton-pflicht-2026/ )
- Certain digital content if the consumer expressly consents to performance starting before the deadline and thereby loses the right of withdrawal. [elio-systems]( www.elio-systems.com/widerrufsbutton-pflicht )
## Implications for Your Shop
- If your shop sells "normal" goods (e.g., clothing, electronics, spare parts) with regular right of withdrawal, you need the withdrawal button – even if you always ship immediately after ordering. [jtl-software]( www.jtl-software.com/de/blog/wissenswertes/widerrufsbutton )
- If you have a mixed assortment (some with, some without right of withdrawal), it applies: For all withdrawable contracts, you must offer the withdrawal option via button; for exempted categories, not. [datenschutz-generator]( datenschutz-generator.de/widerrufsbutton/ )
