Edocman 3.8 Released – Cleaner Structure, Better PDF Viewing, and Stronger Security
We are pleased to announce the release of
Edocman 3.8. This version focuses on improving Joomla compatibility, cleaning up legacy assets, enhancing the PDF viewing experience, and strengthening security across file upload areas.
Edocman 3.8 is recommended for all users, especially websites that allow document uploads or use Joomla Media for document and category images.
What’s New in Edocman 3.8
- Moved frontend assets to media/com_edocman
Edocman frontend assets have been moved from components/com_edocman to media/com_edocman to better follow Joomla standards and improve long-term maintainability.
- Removed unused legacy Bootstrap files
Old Bootstrap JavaScript and CSS files that are no longer used have been removed, helping reduce unnecessary files and possible template conflicts.
- Added PDF viewer text watermark option
A new option is available to display custom text watermarks in the PDF viewer. This helps protect documents, show ownership, and discourage unauthorized sharing.
- Improved Edocman Slider module
The Edocman Slider module now supports opening document details in a popup, depending on the module configuration. This provides a smoother browsing experience for users.
- More flexible license agreement setting
Administrators can now choose whether users must accept the license agreement before downloading a document. This allows a simpler download process when mandatory license acceptance is not required.
- Security improvements for file uploads
Edocman 3.8 blocks PHP and executable uploads across all file-upload paths. It also denies direct web access to vendor/phpword, helping reduce security risks.
- Fixed thumbnail display issue
This version fixes category and document thumbnail display issues when images are selected from Joomla Media.
