Edocman 3.7 is now available!

We are happy to announce the release of Edocman 3.7, a new update focused on making Joomla document management more transparent, reliable, and user-friendly.

This version introduces frontend document version history, support for downloading previous document versions, improved license acceptance behavior, better category management in the administrator area, and a cleaner mobile document details layout.

What’s new in Edocman 3.7?
  • Added frontend document version history
  • Added old-version download support
  • Added admin option to show or hide old versions
  • Improved one-time license acceptance by license
  • Fixed category parent clearing issue
  • Fixed mobile document thumbnail spacing

Frontend document version history

One of the main improvements in Edocman 3.7 is the new document history feature on the frontend.

When enabled, users can view previous versions of a document directly from the document details page or supported blog layouts. This is useful for websites that manage policy documents, legal files, technical manuals, product documentation, training materials, or any content where version traceability matters.

Download previous document versions

Edocman 3.7 also adds support for downloading older document versions when allowed by the site configuration and user permissions.

This gives administrators more flexibility while helping users access the correct version of a file when needed.

New admin visibility option

A new administrator setting is available to control whether old document versions should be shown on the frontend.

This allows site owners to keep previous versions stored internally while deciding whether those versions should be visible and downloadable by users.

Improved license acceptance flow

License acceptance is now tracked per license during a user session.

This means users should not be asked to accept the same license repeatedly when downloading different documents that use the same license. If a document uses a different license, the user can still be prompted as expected.

Better administrator category management

Edocman 3.7 fixes category parent clearing in the administrator area.

Administrators can now clear a parent category, save the category, and return to it without seeing old or incorrect parent values. This makes category management more stable and predictable.

Improved mobile document details layout

This release also fixes a mobile layout issue that could create extra blank space below document thumbnails on document detail pages.

The result is a cleaner and smoother browsing experience for users on phones and tablets.

Recommended before updating

Before enabling old document versions on the frontend, we recommend reviewing the new visibility setting and confirming that historical files are appropriate for public or user-facing access.

You may also want to test old-version downloads with different user permission levels, check license acceptance behavior across documents using the same and different licenses, and review document detail pages on mobile devices.

Why upgrade?

Edocman 3.7 is a recommended update for Joomla websites that rely on secure downloads, document organization, version tracking, or license-controlled access.

With frontend document history, better control over old-version visibility, smoother license handling, improved backend category editing, and mobile layout refinements, this release makes everyday document management easier for both administrators and users.

Update to Edocman 3.7 today and give your Joomla document library a smoother, smarter experience.
