The Edocman developer team announce the release of Edocman 1.24.0. This is a first release for the 1.24.x series of Edocman with new improvements and bugs fixed.
What's new in Edocman 1.24.0
1. Add option to index content of PDF files on third party storages
In previous versions, if you integrate Edocman with third party storage like Dropbox, S3, Google Drive, you won't able to index content of documents. But from this version, even those files are stored on third party storage, their content are still indexed normally.
2. Add Joomla Editor-xtd plugins to add short codes of Categories and Documents into editor
Edocman has 2 content plugins: Edocman Category and Edocman Document, to use those plugin, we just need to add shortcodes into editor. But some of customers feel difficult when adding shortcodes or finding ID of numbers of categories or documents. Understand this, we add 2 Joomla Editor Plugins:
plug_editors_xtd_edocmancategoryshortcode and
plug_editors_xtd_edocmanshortcode which allow you to select categories and documents to add into editors. Simply, you just need to select categories and documents, and the plugins will generate the shortcodes automatically.
3. Add Joomla Login option
Sometimes, you have problem with "
Login to download" function of Edocman, especially with the modal box. To solve it, you enable Joomla Login through configure option:
Select login option. Thus, at frontend, the "
Login to download" button will still show, but it will redirect users to Joomla Login page. And after success logging, it will bring users back to previous page. And they can download documents normally.
4. Add option to select default layout type with "Default" theme
In previous versions, you just can select layout
Grid or
List for
"Default" theme in Configuration. But from this version, you can override that configure option through Categories.
If you select layout for Category is
Default, you will also can select default layout type
Grid/
List for it.
5. Add document description tags in email content
You can use tags: [DOCUMENT_SHORT_DESC] and [DOCUMENT_DESC] to show the description of documents in emails
6. Improve Edocman Category and Document content plugins
As you know, those plugins are used to show content of category or document in an article. In previous versions, if you don't have permission to access to category and document, you will be redirected to Home page, we believe that this treatment is not really reasonable. From this version, if you don't have option to access to category or document, those plugins will return empty data in the article.
7. Modify search module to avoid XSS

8. Bugs fixed
- Fix the redrecting issue after saving document and category at frontend
- Fix issue when delete, publish documents in documents search result
- Fix document duplicate alias issue
