eShop customer groups/ACL groups was created by Brian Shaughnessy
Is there any way to connect customer groups with ACL groups? I need to be able to offer discounts based on existing ACL groups. It seems like you have to create customer groups and then manually add people to them in order to offer them discounts.

Hello Brian,
Thank you for interesting our EShop Shopping Cart extension. Currently, EShop does not have the integration with ACL groups. EShop uses its own customer group to offer discounts and other things for people in the customer group.
If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Sincerely, Giang

do you have any API documentation so I can investigate what would be involved in creating a plugin that provides that functionality?

Dear Brian,
EShop has its own customer group, the documentation for it here: eshopdocs.joomservices.com/sales/customer-groups.html
So when register, each customer will select a customer group. Admin will also be able to assign customer to a customer group. The customer group will be used for discount, taxes, special price, etc.
I don't know about how do you want to integrate customer in EShop into ACL group but I hope that my explanation above will help you.
Sincerely, Giang

I don't want customers to self-assign themselves to groups, and I don't want admin staff to have to manually add/remove people from groups. I want customers to be assigned to certain groups based on their ACL group.
But really, the most pertinent question is -- do you have developer docs where I can see your API and what event triggers (if any) are fired by the application and thus be used in a plugin.

Hi again Brian,
Thank you for explaining more about the thing that you want. However, can you explain more about how you want to assign customers to certain groups? How can we know about their ACL group to assign customers to corresponding groups?
By the way, I am also improving the EShop to add some event triggers (like afterCustomerStore, onOrderStore, on OrserStatus, etc). Once this is ready, I will make an API documentation for it so you will see.
Sincerely, Giang

I would create a mapping table where the ACL groups are mapped to the corresponding customer group. When a group is added/removed in either Joomla user manager or the custom group, we do a lookup on the mapping table to see if we need to sync on the other side. I've done other extensions with similar functionality.
So you don't currently have event triggers. How about API docs for basic actions such as adding a user to a customer group?

Connect customer group to Joomla usergroup is the same i want. I think this feature should work in this way. I don't want user choose by themselves the group and i don't want assign it manually from backend. The best thing is assign a Joomla usergroup to every customer group but it seems that right now cannot be possible. This is the only reason why i didn't buy this component yet.
