Importing users

When I import users to Membership pro, via CSV, I cannot determine if the users are actually linked in the system. What I mean is this... I have nearly 1000 paid subscribers, and since moving to MP, I have not gotten any renewed membership payments. This tells me that, though the members are all in the Joomla "user manager", they aren't linked to the plan and aren't receiving renewal notices. How can I fix this problem?
