I have created custom fields as type TEXT and as TEXTAREA.  When I look at the database structure in mySQL, I see that both are defined as varchar(255).

1.  Is there a way for me to define a shorter text field?
2.  I was surprised to see these are the same.  Is the difference purely to show different size boxes for input screens?  Or something else?

We are on version 2.23.2.  My apologies that we are not up to date.

Thank you
Darlene

Hello

1. Exactly what's the purpose? You want to limit number characters which users can enter ?

2. To control the size of the input, you can use CSS Class setting of the field. Set it to one of the following classes:

- input-small
- input-medium
- input-large
- input-xlarge
- input-xxlarge

Limiting the characters they can enter is something I would like to do someday.  But it's not at the top of my priority list right now.

BUT, I am way off on a tangent here.  I'm having a problem with custom fields not always showing on the subscription management screen when editing a handful of our subscriptions in the back end.  I was thinking that perhaps I have too much text including the core and custom fields to display.  I was thinking if I shortened the length of fields, perhaps it would display, that there are limits on the length of query results.  The fields missing are the last 2 custom fields I've defined.  But the longer I think about this, it doesn't make sense

I probably should open another topic to discuss the original problem properly.

I should add that if I use the front end with a menu item to manage subscriptions I do see these 2 fields and can edit them.
So front end works, back end doesn't for about 5% of our subscriptions, often renewals, where this is more than one subscription per subscriber.

That's actually, not related, and causes by something else. You can submit a support ticket sending us:

- Super admin account
- ID of that subscription record
- ID of the fields which should be shown but it is not

I will check and tell you the reasons

Tuan
