Ideal image size for uploading members list avatar was created by jgribble
I am really looking forward to using the members directory feature. This client though (educationlaw.org) has an odd mix of users. Many tech-savvy law school students. But a lot of older tech-averse teachers, professors and administrators. Some of these senior-level folks have assistants who do everything for them. They themselves have probably never used a web-based subscription system. I believe in really leading users by the hand. So I would like to implement a form message with best-practice directions for them. We can tell them that png, jpg (and anything else?) are accepted. What though are the ideal image dimensions? What though is the optimal file size? This way we can cut down questions to admin and help users achieve a nice-looking avatar/profile photo. Also what is file path to images on server? I know we can't yet update avatar for users via backend CP. But I'm sure that in a pinch we could overwrite an image in the server files if we know the folder location.
Thank you as always,

Hello Jim
1. The avatar will be resized when upload. The width and height is configured via Avatar width and Avatar height config option (default 80x80). So you just need to try and choose the size you want
2. You can already choose and update avatar for your users from administrator area of your site when you edit a subscription record. What was missing is the possibility to delete, which I implemented and will be included in next release 2.16.1
3. Avatars are stored in media/com_osmembership/avatars folder if you still want to know the folder

Thank you. I did see that size parameter. It's nice that we can edit it. I have found that the field labels will take html code, so that's a nice way to add more information to user, like we would otherwise create a tooltip. This is going to work out nicely.
