Need help with subscription upgrade configuration was created by David Lady
Hi We are going to have 2 plans, a basic plan and an advanced plan. Basic is $10 and advanced is $15 a month. I want people to be able to upgrade from basic to advanced. I have gone in and set the upgrade option in basic to advances, set the price to $15, and the prorated type to by price. On the user profile page it says upgrade to advanced price $5. But when they hit process upgrade and go to payment it is charging the whole $15 dollars.
What I expect to happen is that it would charge them $5 for the upgrade, and then $15 a month thereafter. Is there a way to configure to that?
Thank you for the help.

Hello David
Unfortunately, it's not possible for upgrade from one recurring plan to another recurring plan at the moment. The reason is because to handle upgrade, we need to cancel the original recurring subscription
However, most of payment gateways don't have API allow us to do that, so it's not possible. If users upgrade, he will end up with two recurring subscriptions.
So to upgrade, he will have to;
1. Cancel his original recurring subscription plan
2. Then sign up for the new plan as new subscription
Regards,
Tuan

Hi thank you for the responce. Is it possible to configure a subscription so that in my case they can only subscribe to the advanced subscription if they already have the basic subscription? Then i could still emulate what i am looking for. By making basic $10 and advanced $5 to,total $15

It would require clever setup:
1. You need to create a Basic Subscription User group (child group of Registered user group)
2. Create a new access level Basic Subscription, only choose Basic Subscription user group for that access level
3. Configure Membership Pro so that when users sign up to Basic Subscription plan, they will be assigned to Basic Subscription user group, thus having Basic Subscription access level, see membershipprodoc.joomservices.com/joomla-groups-integration
4. Edit the advanced subscription plan, set Access parameter to Basic Subscription
By doing that, only subscribers of Basic Plan can see and sign up for Advanced Subscription plan
Regards,
Tuan
